The International Max Planck Research School for Analysis, Design and Optimization in Chemical and Biochemical Process Engineering in Magdeburg (IMPRS)

invites applications for 15 Ph.D. students

The major goal of this Research School is to provide excellent training and PhD research on the analysis, the design and the optimization in chemical and biochemical process engineering.
The focus is on the development and the application of mathematical modeling approaches and systems theoretical methods to identify systems structures, to investigate process behavior and to design technical processes for specific tasks.
As the IMPRS aims to foster a close interplay between theory and experiment, the program also encompasses the experimental characterization of challenging technical processes.
The IMPRS Magdeburg is a joint initiative of the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems Magdeburg and the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

What we offer

We offer a Ph.D. fellowship and research funding. The research students will be provided with a broad range of basic as well as research specific lectures and seminars.
PhD advisory committees will support PhD students in selecting appropriate lectures, seminars and courses and to monitor and discuss the status of their thesis.

What we expect

The IMPRS has openings for Ph.D. student positions. We are looking for outstanding international and German scientists from engineering sciences as well as physics, chemistry and biology.
The PhD students should hold an excellent recent university degree equivalent to a Master or Diploma degree from a German university.
You should bring motivation and interest to integrate into the interdisciplinary character of research in the IMPRS.
For more detailed requirements please visit www.pe-imprs.mpg.de --> Requirements

For lectures starting in winter term 2007/08, applications should be submitted until 15th June, 2007.
Information about the decision will be given by June 30th, 2007. The beginning of the term is October 1st, 2007.
Please use the application form available on our website www.pe-imprs.mpg.de --> Application
