Written by Administrator
Sunday, 13 May 2007
The High Performance Computing Lab (HPCLab) http://www.isti.cnr.it/ResearchUnits/Labs/hpc-lab/ located
in Pisa, Italy, conducts sevarl research activities in various areas of high
performance computing, namely Grid and P2P Systems, Data and Web Mining,
Information Retrieval, Distributed Search Engines.
The group,
composed of about 20 people, is actively involved in several important
European Union projects including: CoreGrid, NextGrid, XtreemOS, GridComp,
SAPIR, etc.
HPCLab has an opening for a Research Fellow at PostDoc Level
in the area of Grid Computing to work on the EU FP6 funded XtreemOS
Project (http://www.xtreemos.eu).
Summary of the job
description:
We need a person able to work in a team involved in the
design and implementation of a service/resource discovery system. The job
will mainly consist in the complete design and a basic implementation for
a service and resource discovery system. The system will offer, to the
other components of XtreemOS, the capability of searching and selecting Grid
services and resources. Also, the found elements will be ranked according to
the user's needs, e.g. in order to minimize costs or improve QoS. The
prototype system will be based on standard P2P algorithms. More advanced
issues of performance and quality of results will be evaluated throughout
the whole duration of the project, according to the needs that will emerge
from partners.
Required Skills: Grid Computing, P2P, Searching and
Selection of Grid Services.
Currently the position is advertised as 1
year position (starting from September 2007), but it has potential to be
extensible up to 3 years (end of the contract August 2010).
