Korea-PhD and MS Fellowships in Chemistry, Pohang University PDF Print E-mail

Applications are invited for Ph.D & MS studentships in the broad fields of

  1. Theoretical/Computational Chemistry,
  2. Computer-aided Synthetic organic chemistry (experiments),
  3. Nano-chemistry (experiments or theory)

Qualifications: Exceptional students with high GPA from recognized universties.

Salary: $11,000/year (+ one-month salary ~$2,100 for pension every year)

Special benefits: No lodging expenses for single candidates, $210/month for married candidates accompanied by their spouse, cafeteria (~$1.7/meal), free insurance.

The research in the Center for Superfunctional Materials is predominantly focussed on the use of computational methodologies in the design and development of novel bio- and nanomaterials (see the center’s research publication list for more details, here). Candidates interested in method and code development are also invited to apply. The center has close to 50 DEC and SGI workstations, a few Linux clusters, and also has access to the IBM-SP2 and NECSX machines in Daejon. Pohang University of Science and Technology has one of the most advanced digital libraries in the eastern hemisphere and also has an excellent gigabit computer network.

Pohang is a lovely sea-side town with a number of hill-trails and scenic beaches. It has also a growing international community.
