Job description
Working in a multi-disciplinary team, you will
help develop and validate new CCD-oriented position-sensitive radiation
detectors for new-generation SPECT systems for small animals. Your
responsibilities will include interaction localization, optical
cou-pling and cooling techniques. The project encompasses experimental
research for vali-dating the detectors. Your work will be culminate
with a doctorate.
Requirements
University Graduate You have a university
degree in (applied) physics, electrical engineering or a similar study
program. Preferably, you also have experience in programming,
experimental research, radiation physics and electronics. Furthermore,
you are driven, result focused, an excellent communicator and you
possess analytical and experimental skills. Are you a postdoc? We would

The Physics of Molecular Imaging and Nuclear
Medicine working group of the Image Science Institute (www.isi.uu.nl)
develops algorithms and hardware for obtaining ultra-high-resolution
images of molecular distribution using SPECT equipment such as a
re-cently developed system for small animals (U-SPECT). This is
expected to play a major role in research into tissue functions and the
development of new pharmaceutical treat-ments of conditions such as
Alzheimer, Parkinson, cancer and cardiovascular problems. The teams is
made up of an associate professor, three post-docs, four trainee
research assistants (physicists and scientific programmers) and three
engineers.
