PHD RESEARCH POSITIONS IN SENSOR NETWORKS
The Intelligent Systems Centre (IntelliSys) is a research centre jointly set up by the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering).
The sensor networks research program in IntelliSys is working on R&D issues in sensor networks and sensor grids with the goal of building impactful sensor network applications for commercial deployment. We are inviting promising candidates who are keen to to pursue PhD studies in NTU to join our team :
1. Full-time PhD Research Positions
Responsibilities : * Pursue PhD research on a suitable topic under the supervision of IntelliSys principal investigators and faculty members. * Contribute to research projects in IntelliSys.
Requirements : * A Masters or Bachelors in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields. * Good GRE and TOEFL scores. * Must be able to gain admission into NTU for a full-time PhD degree programme. * Interest to do research in one or more of the following areas: sensor networks, wireless and mobile ad hoc networks, grid computing, distributed systems, embedded systems, simulation, performance evaluation. * Good hands-on experience in some platform technologies such as TinyOS, Linux, real-time OS, Globus, web services, etc. * Strong programming skills in C/C++, Java, etc. * Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Desirable Attributes : * Previous experience in developing system software. * Innovative, resourceful, and self-motivated. * A team player with good people skills. * Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Please note that applications for the Fall 2007 (August 2007) semester are due on Feb 28, 2007.
Successful candidates who gained admission into NTU and received an NTU PhD Research Scholarship will receive an additional "top-up" stipend from IntelliSys. Those who perform well will be considered for employment in IntelliSys or ST Engineering upon completion of their PhD study.
