Research Scholarships for PhD in Singapore (Computer Networking)

A.        INTRODUCTION

The School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore,  are seeking eligible candidates with outstanding academic records to apply for our research scholarships/

assistantships in the area of computer networking to pursue higher degree studies by research on full­time basis.

B.        ELIGIBILITY

a.   Applicants must be university graduates with good honours degree who are seeking admission as a full-time PhD candidate by research.  Only candidates with First Class Honours or Second Class (Upper Division) Honours or its equivalent are considered for the award regardless of their citizenship.

b.     Other Requirements*

1.         TOEFL/IELTS

Applicants whose native tongue or medium of university instruction is not English should submit the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) as evidence of their proficiency in the English language.

The minimum TOEFL score ranges for are as follows:

   1. Paper-based (PBT):         580 – 600
   2. Computer-based (CBT):   237 – 250
   3. Internet-based (iBT):       85

Please note that the TOEFL/IELTS scores are valid for 2 years from the test date.  If it has been more than two years since you last took the test, you must take it again to have the scores reported.

2.         GRE

Applicants must also possess GRE score (minimum scores ranges from 1200 – 1400 for the verbal & quantitative sections and 3.5 for the analytical section).

*Note:  Target Scores above refer to the minimum university scores that students should not fall below to be admitted but does not necessary mean that satisfying these scores will warrant the award of the research scholarships. Award of scholarship is on a competitive basis.

3.         GATE

In lieu of GRE, applicants from India may use the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score. A minimum of 90% for GATE score is required.

Pervasive Networks ( http://www.cemnet.ntu.edu.sg/research-permocom.shtml), Ad Hoc and Mobile Networks, Wireless Networks, Wired Networking, Overlay and Peer-to-Peer Networks
