CeramiSphere, ANSTO

Exciting new technology
Start up opportunity
2-Year Term

CeramiSphere is a business unit of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation. We are commercialising an innovative encapsulation and controlled release technology and will eventually become a separate commercial entity. CeramiSphere staff come from a range of scientific backgrounds including chemists, material scientists and chemical engineers who share the common goal of enhancing and developing CeramiSphere technologies for commercial applications. Please visit our website: http://www.ceramisphere.com.au for more information.

This is a hands-on position in the laboratory, involving primarily experimental work, collecting data and assessing and presenting results in written and oral format. The experimental work is in the field of encapsulation of active materials inside ceramic micro and nano particles for commercial applications such as drug delivery, controlled release of biocides/bactericides and controlled release of active ingredients for cosmeceuticals and nutraceuticals.

If you have recently graduated with a B.Sc (Biochemistry) or higher degree and think that you will get a buzz out of helping us transform concepts into commercial products, we want to talk to you. Ideally you will have up to 5 years post-graduate experience (and recent graduates are encouraged to apply). Knowledge and/or experience in protein characterisation, pharmacology or drug development would be highly regarded.

This is a two year term appointment with an attractive salary package depending on your qualifications and experience and the possibility of extension. To be eligible for engagement, the applicant will require security clearance and medical assessment and must be a permanent Australian resident.

Contact: Further information including application details and selection criteria for this role is available online in the vacancies section at http://www.ansto.gov.au or by contacting Ellen Gorissen on 9717 3266.

Your application should address the selection criteria, include a curriculum vitae and the names of at least two professional or academic referees. Please forward your application to Ellen Gorissen at ANSTO, PMB 1 New Illawarra Road, Menai, NSW 2234 or email:

Applications close 30th November 2006.
