Marie Curie PhD Fellowships in Medical Image Analysis PDF Print E-mail

Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI)
Opportunities exist for 12 full-time PhD Fellowships to undertake interdisciplinary research training in medical image analysis. The Fellowships start on 2 October 2006. Fellows will receive research training in one of the following subject areas:

    * Computational methods medical image processing and analysis
    * Statistical methodology for medical image processing and analysis
    * Neuroimaging and clinical neuroscience
    * Diffusion tensor imaging
    * Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)

Each Fellow will be hosted by one of the following Schools/departments of the University, depending upon their chosen research topics. Each Fellow will be supervised by at least two supervisors from these Schools/departments:

    * School of Computer Science & IT
    * School of Mathematical Sciences
    * Department of Academic Radiology
    * Department of Clinical Neurology
    * Department of Psychology
    * Sir Peter Mansfield Magnetic Resonance Centre

Fellows will receive a monthly salary, plus travel, mobility, and career exploratory allowances. Further details of the research projects are available at: http://cs.nott.ac.uk/~bai/cmiag/cmiag.html.

To be eligible for a Fellowship:

Country of residence:

    * Students must be a national of an EU Member State or Associated State.
    * Students should not be a UK national, unless they have resided for at least four of the last five years in a Third Country (country other than EU member or associated states).
    * Students should not have resided for more that 12 months in the UK in the three years prior to taking up a Fellowship.
    * Up to three Fellowships may be allocated to nationals of Third Countries. Students from a Third Country may be treated as nationals of a Member State or an Associated State if they have been resident in the state for at least four out of the five years prior to taking up a Fellowship.

Academic qualification:

    * Students should hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biosciences, medicine, or other related disciplines.
    * Students should be in the in the first four years of research activity since gaining a degree giving access to doctoral studies in the state in which it was obtained.
