Germany: PhD Scholarships at Graduate School of Social Sciences (GSSS), the University of Bremen Print

The Graduate School of Social Sciences (GSSS) at the University of Bremen invites applications to its 3-year Ph.D. program from October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2009. The GSSS is part of an international network of graduate education and is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.

The GSSS offers 9 stipends for Ph.D. fellows of Euro 1000/month for 36 months, contingent on successful completion of each year. Funding is also available for empirical research and travel.

We invite applications within the three thematic fields of the GSSS:
- Transnational Relations and Political Theory
- Welfare State Transformation
- Social Change and the Life Course

Foreign students are encouraged to apply. The University of Bremen strives to increase the share of women in the university and hence strongly encourages women to apply.

Applicants with disabilities who are equally qualified will be favoured.

Interested students with an M.A. (or an equivalent degree) and command of English are invited to send their application (see www.gsss.uni-bremen.de for required application materials) by 1 March 2006 to the following address:
