The project officer will be part of a team of project and scientific officers that is led by the programme coordinator. You will be responsible for the management of several rounds of calls for proposals. In addition you will perform some other tasks that are necessary to support the organisation.

Your main tasks will consist of organising the review process: manage the administration of the process, select reviewers and provide support for the scientific review committee. In addition you will follow the progress of the selected projects and monitor their expenses.

University Graduate
Qualifying competencies:

• Academic working and intellectual level.


• Relevant experience in the project and programme management of health research.


• Familiarity and experience with research oriented policy processes.


• Experience with organisational, administrative and financial matters.


• Experience in an international context.


• Commitment to health in developing countries.


• Relevant research experience on one of the disease areas prioritised by EDCTP will be a pro.


• Familiarity with sub-elements of the policy and developments in the relevant scientific field will be a pro.

Education:

• Academic level, preferable competence equivalent to a PhD.

EDCTP is an independent international organisation hosted and facilitated by NWO the Hague. The EDCTP is a collaboration between European and African countries to accelerate the development of new clinical interventions (e.g. drugs, vaccines) against poverty-related diseases in Africa (HIV/Aids, malaria, tuberculosis). The organisation focuses on the funding and coordination of large clinical trials and research initiatives in Africa and Europe as well as strengthening the capacity to perform clinical trials in Africa.

Duration of the contract: Employment by NWO will be for a period of 12 months with possibilities to extend

Additional conditions of employment:
The employee will be stationed at the EDCTP Secretariat in The Hague, The Netherlands.
The salary will be depending on experience and education with a maximum of € 3987 gross per month based on scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Research Organisations.
