PhD opportunities in Cognitive Psychology at the University of Huddersfield
The school of Human and Health Sciences at the University of
Huddersfield is offering 5 fully funded PhD studentships, one or more
of which could be based in the recently created Centre for Applied
Psychological Research in the Division of Psychology. We are
seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified applicants to
work with Dr David Peebles and Dr Robert Ward to carry out research
towards a PhD in the area of cognitive science.
Our specific areas of interest are in the modelling of human
performance in tasks involving external representations (e.g., the role
of cognition, perception and emotion in interacting with graphs, maps,
diagrams, 3D virtual environments and other aspects of human-computer
interaction).
Applicants should have a first degree in psychology, cognitive science,
computer science or a related discipline and have (or be willing to
develop) skills in eye tracking, experimental design and analysis, and cognitive modelling.
The School of Human and Health Sciences has a suite of psychology
research laboratories, is well equipped with state of the art computing
and eye tracking equipment and has an ethos of promoting and developing
high quality applied research across a range of areas in psychology.
Expressions of interest should in the first instance be sent to Dr
David Peebles ([ mailto:

University is 17 March, 2006
