The Company

Starpharma is an ASX listed biotechnology company researching and developing dendrimer-based pharmaceuticals. Our lead product VivaGel™ is at an exciting stage of its development as a vaginal microbicide against sexually transmitted infections. The VivaGel™ development program recently received a major boost from the US based National Institutes of Health by the award of a $US20m development contract. This has led to an expansion of our analytical team.

Where do you fit in?

Working within a highly skilled analytical team, you will further the development of VivaGel™ through pharmacokinetic, toxicological and efficacy studies, as well as contribute to our other drug discovery projects. Specifically, you will:

• Develop HPLC and CE bioanalytical methods for analysis of compounds in biological fluids
• Undertake sample analysis and method validation to TGA/FDA regulations
• Contribute to the continuing development and maintenance of a GLP compliant QA system for bioanalytical studies
• Write and review QA documents including SOPs, protocols and reports

Our ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification and extensive experience in bioanalytical method development and validation using HPLC/MS or CE. A thorough knowledge of biological sample extraction techniques (SPE, protein precipitation, liq-liq extraction, protein purification) and experience using computerised data systems such as Waters Empower/MassLynx would be desirable. Knowledge of FDA or ICH guidelines for bioanalytical method development, and experience working in a quality system environment would be a definite advantage.
