USA: GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2009-2010 |

The Office
of International Education (OIE) and the Center for U.S.-Mexico Studies
(CUSMS) at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) enhances the
academic relationship between UTD, Mexico, Latin America and the
Caribbean using an interdisciplinary approach to focus on international
education, research, and public service programs. OIE and CUSMS invite
citizens from country members of the OAS to participate applying for
graduate scholarships through the Agreement of Collaboration between
UTD and the Organization of American States (OAS). The UTD-OAS
scholarship includes one round trip airfare, living expenses, tuition
and fees, and health insurance.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
The application
for the UTD-OAS scholarship may be accomplished through two different
ways: (1) self placed scholarships and (2) OAS-placed scholarships.
SELF PLACED SCHOLARSHIPS
Candidates must apply directly to The University of Texas at Dallas.
Simultaneously candidates have to apply to the National Liaison Office
(NLO) in his/her home country. Fellowships awards depend on the
submission of the admission letter to complete the file for review and
deliberation. Each NLO define its own calendar for the submission of
application paper work, including the admission letter from UTD. Please
verify dates directly in the NLO of your country.

Fellowship awards are published in the month of June to begin the academic program in the month of August.
UTD APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Candidates must satisfy admission, departmental, and international
requirements at UTD. Application form and letter of recommendation
format may be obtained from the following Web sites

UTD requires the satisfaction of English
proficiency (TOEFL) and standardized test such as the Graduate Record
Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). For
more information, please review admission requirements in the academic
unit where the program of your interest is offered. The electronic
links for these tests are reflected at the end of this site, where you
will find dates, costs, etc.
The current scholarship announcement is for the Academic Year
2009-2010, beginning classes in the month of August. The deadline for
the reception of applications at UTD is on March 9, 2009.
The application must include $100.00 administrative fee. The check
in U.S. dollars or money order must be titled as The University of
Texas at Dallas. Also the fee may be cancelled using a credit card (see
application form).

OAS-placed scholarships
- Candidates must apply to the National Liaison Office (NLO) in

- Once applications are evaluated, candidates are interviewed in their home countries.
d. The petition of the candidates to be admitted to UTD is sent to our
office to be evaluated by the Office of Enrollment Services.

UTD-OAS Scholarship Program Components
UTD-OAS scholars will are sponsored by the Inter American Agency for
Cooperation and Development (IACD) and UTD. IACD will sponsor the first
half of the academic programs (first year for master programs and two
first years for Ph.D. programs). UTD will sponsor the second half of
the academic programs (second year for master programs and third and
fourth years for Ph.D. programs).
The UTD-OAS scholarship program includes:
- Round trip air fare for travel between the country of origin and UTD.
- An allowance for living expenses, including books and materials
- Health insurance
- Tuition and fees
