Maastricht University’s Faculty of Psychology, in partnership with Forensic Psychiatric Center de Rooyse Wissel, seeks an outstanding Ph.D. candidate (“promovendus”) for experimental research on mechanisms of change in forensic patients with personality disorders

Requirements

University Graduate
A master’s or equivalent degree in psychology or a related discipline with a strong affinity for forensic psychology and experimental research.

Additional information about the job:
“Investigating Indirect, Experimental Measures of Change in Forensic Patients with Personality Disorders".

The project is part of a multicenter, randomized clinical trial of the effectiveness of Schema Focused Therapy in forensic (TBS) settings. The successful candidate will develop and test indirect experimental methods (e.g., tests of implicit association, psychophysiological tests) to determine whether aggression, impulsivity, empathy, and moral reasoning change during psychotherapy with forensic patients.

Excellent scientific and interpersonal skills; proficiency in English language, including academic writing; and willingness to travel to the participating institutions, are required.

The project takes place in the Faculty of Psychology’s Department of Clinical Psychological Science, and the Experimental Psychopathology Research Institute.

Conditions of employment

Maximum salary amount in Euro's a month 2558
Employment basis: Temporary for specified period
Duration of the contract: 48 months
Maximum hours per week: 38

Additional conditions of employment:
1 year with the perspective of prolongation to max. 4 years. We offer the opportunity to follow training at the Dutch-Flemish postgraduate school of Experimental Psychopathology.
