Our profile
 
The research group IT-Security is part of the research center UMIC of the RWTH Aachen University. The group studies and teaches security problems and solutions for different types of communication networks. The main focus of the group is securing wireless networks. In particular, we are interested in security mechanisms for decentralized networks, securing mobility in heterogeneous networks, AAA support of mobility, analyses of security architectures of existing standards, the design and implementation of new security architectures, as well as distributed privacy-enhancing protocols. Your profile
 
Ideally, your have and excellent degree in Computer Science (Diploma or MSs equivalent). Alternatively, you earned your outstanding degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or anything related and have a strong interest in Computer Science and in Security in particular.

You offer profound knowledge in at least two of the following topics and are deeply interested in security issues related to at least one of them: cryptography, networking protocols, IT-security and/or mobile communication in general, mobility-supporting protocols, AAA protocols, sensor networks, RFID systems, policies, game theory.

You are comfortable and offer practical experience with at least one higher-level programming language. Your English is fluent and you have a basic knowledge of German or are willing to get there. You are comfortable working responsibly and independently. You have excellent communication skills and are a team player. Any form of teaching experience is appreciated and a high motivation to get involved in teaching is indispensable.
 
Your duties
 
You actively participate in security-related research projects in the context of the research cluster UMIC. If applicable you present your results at international conferences.
In this context you will have the opportunity to prepare your Ph.D. theses. Your teaching duties will be 4 hours per week and semester.
 
Our offer
 
The position is to be filled as soon as possible and is for a fixed term auf 3 Jahre. Regular working hours are 39.83 hours a week.
 
The option of undertaking a PhD is provided.
 
The pay scale classification complies with the labour agreement TV-L.
