Tuesday, 07 February 2006
Job description
The LUMC Department of Molecular Cell Biology
is looking for a Scientific researcher for the TGF-â Signal
Transduction group to perform genetic and biochemical screens to
identify novel secreted BMP and Wnts agonists and antagonists. These
molecules will be used to design new strategies to promote bone
formation, including targeting of the inhibitors with (synthetic)
neutralising antibodies. The research is part of a project that seeks
to elucidate new mechanisms by which extracellular cues regulate BMP
and Wnt signal transduction in bone formation.
Requirements
University Graduate We are seeking a
candidate with a university degree and preferably a PhD. You also have
experience in signal transduction related to growth factors. You have
experience of working in a research environment, are flexible,
communicative and highly motivated.

At the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC),
we are continually seeking to improve the quality of healthcare. The
LUMC aims for excellence in patient care, research, teaching, training
and continuing education. The TGF-â Signal Transduction group is part
of the Signal Transduction Section of the Department of Molecular Cell
Biology. The group undertakes research into signal transduction
processes and the role of TGF-â in angiogenesis, metastasis of breast
cancer cells to bone, and mesenchymal cell differentiation to bone.
Your work will be carried out under the supervision of Professor P. ten
Dijke.
