Scientific researcher - LUMC Department of Molecular Cell Biology PDF Print E-mail

Job description
The LUMC Department of Molecular Cell Biology is looking for a Scientific researcher for the TGF-â Signal Transduction group to perform genetic and biochemical screens to identify novel secreted BMP and Wnts agonists and antagonists. These molecules will be used to design new strategies to promote bone formation, including targeting of the inhibitors with (synthetic) neutralising antibodies. The research is part of a project that seeks to elucidate new mechanisms by which extracellular cues regulate BMP and Wnt signal transduction in bone formation.

Requirements

University Graduate
We are seeking a candidate with a university degree and preferably a PhD. You also have experience in signal transduction related to growth factors. You have experience of working in a research environment, are flexible, communicative and highly motivated.

At the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC), we are continually seeking to improve the quality of healthcare. The LUMC aims for excellence in patient care, research, teaching, training and continuing education. The TGF-â Signal Transduction group is part of the Signal Transduction Section of the Department of Molecular Cell Biology. The group undertakes research into signal transduction processes and the role of TGF-â in angiogenesis, metastasis of breast cancer cells to bone, and mesenchymal cell differentiation to bone. Your work will be carried out under the supervision of Professor P. ten Dijke.

Conditions of employment

Maximum salary amount in Euro's a month 3506
Employment basis: Temporary for specified period
Duration of the contract: two years
Maximum hours per week: 36

Additional conditions of employment:
The position is full-time (36 hours per week), for a term of two years. The maximum salary is € 3,506 gross per month (scale 10 of the Collective Labour Agreement for university hospitals).
