Holland: PhD Student: 'The Future of Transport Innovations' PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Friday, 01 August 2008
Society will face major challenges with respect to its future transport systems, particularly in the areas of congestion, the environment and safety. Without innovations, the challenges are unlikely to be met. Major questions therefore are: what transport innovations can be expected? Which innovations should play a major role in meeting these challenges? How can the innovations be implemented successfully? Should public or private parties, or both, organize the implementation?

TLO has a vacancy for an enthusiastic PhD student who is interested in doing research into this area. The research in this project will deal with such questions as addressed above. This requires the handling of large uncertainties about further transport innovation technology development, about the outcomes of large-scale implementation, and about the valuation of the outcomes by stakeholders involved in or affected by the implementation. Specifically, the following PhD project has been defined:
Transport Innovation Outcomes: this project aims at modelling the impacts of a wide range of innovation strategies of public and private parties across a wide range of plausible scenarios and plausible transport model representations, by use of computational experiments.
