Written by Suleman Shahid
Friday, 01 August 2008

This programme, taught by leading international researchers, provides you with the breadth of scientific knowledge to undertake a career in research within the emerging and important area of ‘Industrial Biotechnology’. You will acquire a solid background in biocatalysis, biomolecular science and bioinformatics and training in medicinal aspects of drug design. You can specialise in a more chemical, biological or biochemical area as part of your industrially related research project.

The programme incorporates a substantial element of hands-on research experience, with enhanced experimental skills gained alongside experienced research workers. At the end of the course you will have a systematic, up to date knowledge of the subject, as well as a critical awareness of broader aspects of modern research at this multidisciplinary interface.

On completion you will be qualified to undertake a PhD or to gain employment in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, among the strongest growth sectors of the UK economy.
