PostDoc's and PhD's Dependability and Security of Critical Infrastructures
Modern society would not exist without dependable and secure ICT. For example the utilities such as electricity, water, gas, and phone rely heavily on ICT. The Supervisory Command and Data Acquisition systems (SCADA) of the utilities are slowly migrating from proprietary protocols and networks to using the Internet. This causes a considerable increase of the risk of attacks on SCADA systems. We are looking for a number of PostDocs and PhD students to help us mitigate those risks by researching new security and dependability measures for critical infrastructures.

Requirements

University Graduate
You have completed a relevant university degree (M.Sc. level for the PhD student position, PhD level for the PostDoc position) or are about to graduate in an area that is relevant to our research, e.g. computer science, electrical engineering, or mathematics. You like working in a team and have intellectual curiosity and knowledge of one or more of the following topics: information systems, distributed systems, computer networking, dependability or security. Your main responsibility will be to carry out research, but you will be given the opportunity to acquire some teaching experience.
We offer both our PhD students and PostDoc researchers the opportunity to broaden their knowledge by joining international exchange programs, by participating in national and international conferences and workshops, and by visiting other research institutes and universities worldwide.

University of Twente Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS)
Sharing knowledge, working together, research, innovation. It is all part of the only campus university in the Netherlands: the University of Twente (UT). A university with an international character. We have for example many foreign doctoral students, and master programmes are provided in English. Divided over 5 faculties, we provide more than 50 Bachelor and Master programmes, varying from Applied Physics and Public Administration to Applied Communication Science and Biomedical Technology. In beautiful green surroundings, more than 8000 students and 2700 staff live, work and recreate at the UT. It is also a place where talented people get every opportunity to perform cutting edge research. But as an entrepreneurial university this is not all we do. In ‘Kennispark’, for example, we work together with the business community, we support our students in setting up their own businesses and participate in many projects in the area of knowledge development. In brief, a dynamic climate in which to work and study.

The Computer Science department of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) is one of the largest academic institutions in computer science in the Netherlands, with 220 faculty members and 1200 students.
