PhDs in The Areas of Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Image Processing and Signal Processing PDF Print E-mail

Open for applications from June 13, 2008 until August 15, 2008.

An opportunity for two (2) highly motivated students to take on PhDs in the areas of computer vision, pattern recognition, image processing and signal processing. Both candidates’ research is part of an industry supported project between CSU and Newcrest Mining. CSU shall offer a fee-free place for each successful candidate. The optimal candidate would have a clear interest in computer vision and pattern recognition. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate a willingness to tackle relevant mathematical problems and to work with various software APIs for the hardware used in this project. The candidate should possess or expect to obtain Honours I or strong Honours II degree from disciplines including, but not limited to Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and/or Statistics. The applicants are also expected to have strong programming skills in C++ (or Matlab) and have some system engineering experience.

Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD30000 (maximum per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses and travel. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years.

Research Information
This scholarship is for any field of research.

Eligibility
This scholarship requires you to have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent. There are no restrictions on citizenship. permanent residents can apply.
