Written by Suleman Shahid
Wednesday, 08 February 2006
The Centre of International Studies (CIS) at Cambridge University was
nominated in 2004 by the European Commission to act as a Host Institution
for Marie Curie Early Stage Research Training (EST) Fellowships under the
framework of the 'Cambridge Programme for International Research on Europe'
(CAPIRE).
As a result, the CIS is offering a number of fully funded places:
Junior Fellowships (one year MPhil studentship)
Visiting Fellowships (one year studentship)
CAPIRE is a programme for advanced research training in Contemporary
European Studies with a specific focus on the European Union's External
Relations; commercial, legal, diplomatic and security-related policies,
their formulation, execution and their democratic accountability.
The aim of CAPIRE is to enable a small group of promising early-stage
researchers to participate in an intensive training programme with a view
to developing a long-term research career in the field of European Studies.
Applications are invited from eligible early-stage researchers (usually
those who are ready to embark on their first or second year of
doctorate-level training) who have demonstrated significant promise for
reaching a high level of excellence in social scientific research. The
selected researchers will receive 10 months of doctorate-level training at
Cambridge University with the aim of either:
completing 10 months of research training as part of a doctoral degree
course undertaken at another university (Visiting Fellows)
completing 10 months of post-graduate training with the object of earning
the Degree of 'MPhil in Contemporary European Studies' from the University
of Cambridge (Junior Fellows).
