Description: Funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) this International Research Training Group will be conducted in collaboration with the Universities of Bremen (Germany) and Waikato (New Zealand). Focussing on impacts of global, climate and environmental changes in coastal and shelf-sea areas INTERCOAST will train young, highly motivated and interdisciplinary qualified scientists to tackle future challenges and to be prepared for their future professional careers. Within a coastal and shelf-sea research framework these encompass marine geosciences and marine biology as well as social sciences and law in their widest senses. Further details are available at

Operating in close collaboration with the University of Waikato (New Zealand), INTERCOAST offers

PhD scholarships in the specific fields (66% EG 13 TV-L; for the duration of 36 month)
Anthropogenic impact through the last millennium (IC3) Onshore and offshore in situ and laboratory soil characterization (IC4)

Research Associate Position in the specific fields (Post-Doc; EG 13 TV-L; for the duration of 24 month) Law, human geography, sociology or political sciences Marine geosciences or marine biology.

The Research Associate is expected to develop his/her own research project within the thematic framework of the INTERCOAST project ( At least 50% of their working time will be reserved for their research while the remaining time will be spent for supporting and networking PhD-students in both countries.
