Canada : Ph.D. Position in Information Studies
Description: The iSchool (Faculty of Information) at the University of Toronto is now accepting applications for the Ph.D. in Information Studies program, starting in September 2014. Successful candidates will become members of the Database Management group (iDB) within the iSchool.
Eligibility: Students with an MSc degree and a strong background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related fields are particularly encouraged to apply.
Prospective areas of research include but are not limited to:
– structure discovery in large datasets;
– big data generation techniques;
– predictive analytics in text;
– information extraction; Ph.D.
Supervisor: Work will be supervised by Prof. Periklis Andritsos (http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~periklis). The Faculty of Information provides a rich, research-intensive environment in which to conduct doctoral studies.
