  • Research will be conducted in the Laboratory of Algorithmics, Cryptology and Security (LACS) under the supervision of Prof. Alex Biryukov

 

Area: (potential topics of the thesis)

 

  • Lightweight cryptography for the Internet of Things
  • Design and analysis of symmetric cryptographic primitives (block ciphers, hash functions, etc)
  • Side-channel attacks and countermeasures
  • Efficient implementation of cryptographic algorithms in hardware and software
  • Practical security aspects of RFID systems and wireless sensor networks

 

Your Role
  • Prepare a doctoral thesis in Cryptography and IT Security
  • Publish research papers at the top international conferences and journals
  • Assist in the administration of research projects (report writing, installation of software and tools, etc.)
  • Help with organizing science outreach activities (workshops, etc.)
Your Profile
  • Master degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Applied Mathematics with outstanding grades (GPA > 80%)
  • Solid background in algorithms and data structures, discrete mathematics, probability theory and statistics, software development, computer architecture, and information security
  • Hands-on experience in hardware design (VHDL, SystemC) or programming of embedded systems (AVR, MSP430, ARM, etc.) is a plu
  • Language skills: fluent written and spoken English. French, German or Luxembourgish is a plus
