Belgium: PhD-student in Heterochromatin Formation at University of Antwerp
The candidate will be involved in an international cooperative research project aiming to generate heterochromatin protein (HP)-1αβγ knock-out mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells, as well as studying the effect of partial and full knock-out combinations on genome stability, endogenous retrotransposition, transgene stability and cancer development.
We provide an initial PhD-position for 1 year, after which the candidate should obtain independent funding via a PhD research grant application at the Flemish Institute for Science and Technology (IWT) or at the Flemish Fund for Scientific Research (FWO). Excellent study grades are therefore (partially) taken into account during the selection procedure.
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD-student (not afraid of occasional weekend work), preferentially (but not absolutely required) with preceding expertise in murine ES cell culture, PCR and immunocytochemistry.
- The position will remain open until a suitable candidate has been selected. Upon solicitation, please provide a letter of motivation and a letter of reference from your master thesis supervisor.
