UK: Postdoctoral Research Associate in Clinical Neurosciences at University of Oxford
Grade 7: £29,541 – £36,298 p.a.
Description: We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work closely with Dr Nicholas Blockley at the Oxford Centre for Functional MRI of the Brain (FMRIB). This post is part of a 5 year research programme funded by the EPSRC to develop a new generation of MRI techniques for measuring oxygen metabolism in the human brain. It is hoped that these new methods will remove the barriers that have inhibited the widespread adoption of the current generation of quantitative functional MRI techniques.
This multifaceted project will involve elements of biophysical modelling, MRI data collection and analysis. There will also be the opportunity to undergo training in elements as diverse as MRI pulse programming and venous blood sampling. There will also be the opportunity to interact with the broader FMRIB Physics group led by Professor Peter Jezzard, Dr Karla Miller, Dr Daniel Bulte and Dr Uzay Emir.
Eligibility: Experience with any or all of the following would be advantageous: MATLAB, image analysis, biophysical modelling, operating MRI scanners, respiratory and/or pharmacological manipulations, MRI pulse programming. Candidates should have, or be about to receive, a PhD in Physics, Engineering or a relevant discipline. Excellent written and oral communication skills and a capacity to work independently are essential. Informal enquiries are encouraged and should be addressed to Dr Nicholas Blockley via the contact details below.
The closing date: for applications is 12.00 midday on Tuesday 10 December 2013. Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
