Description: The post holder will join a vibrant research community at the ChELSI Institute (www.shef.ac.uk/chelsi) and will contribute to research activity in bio-energy led by Dr. Seetharaman Vaidyanathan. The post will be based in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (www.shef.ac.uk/cbe) and will involve collaborative research with other researchers in the Department and those in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at Sheffield. The work will also involve collaboration with researchers at the University of Cambridge, The Scottish Marine Association, and Indian Universities.
The aim of the project is to develop a systems level understanding that will lead to sustainable processes for bio-energy generation from microalgae, and will involve cultivation of microalgae and -omic level characterisations.

Eligibility: Applicants should have a first degree in a relevant chemical or biological discipline (or equivalent). The ideal candidate will also have experience in handling microorganisms, microalgae, in particular, and/or transcriptomics/proteomics/metabolomics based microbial characterisations, and will be willing to work in a collaborative research environment. This post provides an ideal opportunity to contribute to high quality research within a stimulating and supportive multi-disciplinary context.The project is for a fixed term of 36 months with an end date of 30 September 2016.
