Germany: Research Position in Product Line Engineering at the Stiftung Universität Hildesheim

The position is immediately available, initially for the next two years. The job offer is intended for a PhD candidate with interest in the area of software engineering and desire to perform research in this area. The salary (roughly 40.000 EUR TVL-E13) depends on personal capabilities and the guide-lines of the TV-L.

Who we are?
Located in Hildesheim, the University of Hildesheim is renowned for quality research and education. Hildesheim is a beautiful town with UNESCO World Heritage Sites, located in the very center of Germany, just 30 km from Hannover. The Software Systems Engineering (SSE) group works on methods and techniques to increase efficiency and quality in Software Engineering. We work in national and international research projects, as well as in industrial projects on a large number of innovative application areas.

The project:
This offer is part of the Support for correct evolution of software product lines, which is founded by the DFG (Deutsche Fördergemeinschaft). The project aims at methods for supporting the long-term evolution of software, particularly, in terms of product lines. It combines in novel ways work from code analysis and model analysis in the context of software evolution and software product lines.

Tasks
•    Development and evolution of approaches to software configuration verification
•    Collaboration on approaches for reengineering of software systems
•    Scientific work, i.e. publications, presentations, etc.
•    Development of software prototypes (in particular in the context of Eclipse)

Requirements
•    Good knowledge in software engineering or in related areas
•    Degree in computer science or a (closely) related area (natural sciences, mathematics,..)
•    Ability for independent work
•    Open for new challenges
•    Good abilities in communication and team work
•    Good knowledge of the English language (writing, conversation)

Desired abilities
•    Knowledge in software product line development
•    Knowledge in reengineering
•    Knowledge in logic calculi and theorem proving

Upon offer of a position in SSE, the candidates who are non-EU citizens are required to obtain an appropriate long-term Schengen visa; further information is available from their nearest German embassy.
