UK: Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Impact Engineering of Composite Materials for Aerospace Applications at University of Oxford

Description:We are seeking a well organised and motivated full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Impact Engineering Group at the Department of Engineering Science (Begbroke Science Park). The post is funded by (TSB/Rolls Royce) and is fixed-term for 2 years.

You will be responsible for the development of deterministic and stochastic modelling techniques for predictive modelling of the response of composite materials to impact loading, the development of supporting experimental techniques, the writing of progress reports to sponsors and journal publications and the production of documented software and experimental procedures.

Eligibility: You should possess a doctorate (or be very near completion) in engineering or a related subject or alternatively have a good first degree and significant relevant industrial experience. Proven skills in novel research and expertise in the finite element method of mesh-free discretisation techniques and development of constitutive models for simulation of deformation and failure of engineering (preferable composite) materials are essential. The ability to communicate scientific ideas to an expert audience, both orally and in writing (including research papers for journals) is also required.
