The School of Chemistry and Forensics Science is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Analytical Chemistry for a 3 Year Fixed Term Contract.
The Elemental Bio-imaging Facility within the School of Chemistry and Forensic Science has a demonstrated track record of collaborative research with Australian and international organisations and industries, ranging from Agilent Technologies to the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health.

Recent examples include:

  • Development of novel methods for Single Cell Imaging by Laser Ablation-Inductively Coupled Plasma- Mass Spectrometry.
  • Methods for elemental bio-imaging of Parkinson’s Disease, breast and prostate cancers

In this position you will execute a research project on “the atlas of trace metals in the mouse brain: a new tool for neuroscientists”. This is a great opportunity to assist in producing the first interactive atlas of metals within the mouse brain.

Some keys skills and knowledge will be required to fill this position; these include but are not limited to:

  • Expertise in the principles of laser ablation inductively couple plasma – mass spectrometry
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of biological sample preparation –histopathology methods
  • PhD in analytical chemistry or analytical biochemistry

Salary range: $66,850 – 81,418 p.a. The University offers salary packaging plus 17% superannuation.
