Description: BRITICE-CHRONO is a 5 year research project funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). It aims to better understand how ice sheets shrink in a warming world.

The project requires a Research Associate to work closely with Professor Mark Bateman on the preparation, measurement and calculation of single grain luminescence ages to help to provide a chronology for the retreat pattern of the last British and Irish Ice Sheet. This Research Associate will be part of the Environmental Reconstruction and Observation and the Climate and Cryosphere Research groups. This post will enable the Research Associate to forge links with others in Geography at Sheffield but also partners within BRITICE-CHRONO.

This is one of two OSL Research Associate positions to be recruited for BRITICE-CHRONO. The other post will be based at the University of Aberystwyth with a start date of January 2014.

Duration:This post is fixed-term from 1 October 2013 to 30 September 2015.
