Description: This position is one of a number of post-doctoral research associates (PDRA) employed as part of a EPSRC-funded project entitled “MacroBioCrude: Developing an Integrated Supply and Processing Pipeline for the Sustained Production of Ensiled Macroalgae-derived Hydrocarbon Fuels”. The project seeks to provide an innovative technology pipeline for the utilisation of an underused, but sustainable biomass source, namely seaweed (macroalgae), with a view to contributing to the portfolio of renewable feedstocks that will be needed in order to supply HGV diesel and aviation kerosene to the transport sector in the near future, initially to the UK, but globally in the longer-term.

Additionally the project will develop an understanding of and suggest ways to build relationships with retail outlets and end consumers/society to ensure demand and usage of microalgae and bio-derived fuel products.

The successful candidate will work within and be expected to contribute to a wide multidisciplinary and multisite project team, based in a number of UK universities and associated industrial partners, and will work closely with a second PDRA based within the same work package.
