Job description

The position

As PhD student in the Department of Endocrinology, you will study the role of recently identified gene targets in lipid metabolism and atherosclerosis. Your work will combine studies on lipid metabolism and atherosclerosis in humanised mouse models and in-depth mechanistic studies in cell cultures. The position involves close collaboration with various academic institutes in the Netherlands including LACDR, AMC and UMCG, as well as TNO.

The project

Since brown adipose tissue contributes significantly to energy expenditure by dissipating lipids into heat, it is regarded as a novel therapeutic target to combat diabetes and atherosclerosis. The aim of the project is to identify novel pharmaceutical targets for the prevention and treatment of dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis.
