UK:Research Assistant in Materials and Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University

Duration:Fixed-term for 2 years/Full time

Salary: £20,764 to 24,049 per annum, dependent on experience

Description: The Centre for Infrastructure Management (CIM) within the Faculty of Arts, Computing, Engineering and Sciences is looking for a Research Assistant following the award of an EC grant. The research will develop a microwave curing system for concrete repair and refurbishment.

The trans-EC collaborative project will also involve another research institute (with microwave engineering expertise) and industry. You will provide construction materials related expertise on the project and will engage in experimental research to validate microwave curing for concrete repair. You will also contribute to an interesting range of consultancy projects in CIM to broaden your experience in construction.

Eligibility: You must have a good Honours Degree or equivalent in a relevant area and must also have good knowledge of construction/engineering materials and experience of writing reports. Good planning and organisational skills and the ability to manage conflicting demands and meet deadlines are also essential.
