DescriptionThe Intelligent Systems Research Laboratory ( is seeking to appoint 2 Research Fellows with strong software engineering capability particularly C++/Java programming, Image and Signal Processing, and, experience in the any of the areas of Video Content Analyis, Video Coding and Video-Analytics.

Some knowledge of the following areas will be an advantage:

  • Multi-media Metadata Engineering, Information Retrieval
  • User Modelling and Recommender Systems
  • Human–Computer Interfaces
  • Dexterous Robotics

Eligibility: Candidates are invited to apply with a minimum of BSc (Hons), or, preferably MSc/PhD in Computer Science/ Engineering or Mathematics, experience in Java programming and system integration. It is expected that candidates with a strong mathematics and signal and speech processing background will find this position particularly interesting.

You will have:

C++/Java Programming and Experience in systems integration and any one of the following:

  • Computer Vision; Image & Signal Processing
  • Video Content Analyis, Video Coding, Video-Analytics
  • Multi-media Information Retrieval

And preferrably with some knowledge of:

  • Recommender Systems, User Modelling & Personalisation
  • HCI, Decision Support Systems, Sensor Fusion, Situation Assessment, Semantic Workflow, Dexterous Robotics.

The ISR research agenda is pushing forward the frontiers of advanced Video-Analytics and Multi-modal Multimedia Indexing and Retrieval.
