Organisation:The Free University of Bozen/Bolzano was founded in 1997 as a multilingual, internationally oriented institution. It is a non-state funded university, granted the authority to award university degrees by the Italian state. The university promotes the free exchange of ideas and scientific knowledge, linking itself to the European humanities tradition and laying the foundations for its society by promoting respect for democratic principles. Its international orientation is further emphasized by its commitment to multilingualism and its international academic staff and student body.
The Free University of Bozen/Bolzano champions research at the highest of levels, is committed to excellence and the advancement of knowledge through critical and independent scholarship and values freedom to push the frontiers of knowledge forward. Research projects which are interdisciplinary, international or which have local relevance are particularly encouraged. In this respect, the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano endorses research, and is especially committed to promoting young researchers.

Description:A public competition for the allocation of PhD-positions in General Pedagogy, Social Pedagogy and General Education is announced, for

  • 12 places, of which 6 places will be covered by grants
  • 2 additional places for non-EU citizens in receipt of a grant will also be available.

This PhD Research Programme lasts three years, plus the maximum of one additional year that can be used to finish writing the thesis. Over the three years, PhD students will actively attend the teaching and scientific activities. PhD students will also complete a piece of original research, supervised by two supervisors and by the PhD Course Committee.
