Description: Working within the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance laboratories of the Department of Physics, you will be responsible for experiments and data analysis to study the drying processes of adhesives made from waterborne polymer colloids, i.e. latex. You will primarily use the GARField NMR profiling technique, which was developed at Surrey, but might also employ other complementary techniques. The research is sponsored by a major international chemical company. You will work closely with industrial collaborators and regularly report your results to them.

Eligibility: You will have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry or related discipline with experience in using spectroscopic techniques, ideally NMR methods, and in using software for data analysis. Additionally, you will have some knowledge of colloid science and mass transport models.
