Description: A twelve month fixed term post-doctoral fellowship (with possibility of extension to 24 months) is available in the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences. The fellowship will involve the development and assessment of computer-based models to predict toxic effects of cosmetic ingredients. The models may be used to aid overall risk assessment of these compounds which is necessary for regulatory approval of their use. Specifically this will include the use of chemical grouping and read-across approaches as well as general modelling of chemistry and toxicology. In addition, the candidate will assist in the administration of the project.

Eligibility: Candidates should have, or be expecting soon to obtain, a Ph.D. with a strong background in any chemoinformatic, chemical, biochemical, toxicological or computational science, or a related field. This project is funded in part through the COSMOS EU Project further details of which are available at  Liverpool John Moores University is internationally recognised for its work in in silico toxicology. The successful candidate will be expected to integrate with other research being undertaken in this and related areas.
