UK: Post Doctoral Research Associate in Earth Science and Engineering at Imperial College London

Salary range :£32,750 – £40,440 per annum

Duration: Fixed term appointment until 31 January 2015  

Description: Applications are invited for a Research Associate in the Department of Earth Science and Engineering. The post will be based at the South Kensington campus of Imperial College London.You will study how organic matter in the early solar system can be recorded in the layers of rock at the Moon’s surface. You will also become a member of the Impacts and Astromaterials Research Centre comprising planetary scientists from both the Natural History Museum and Imperial College London.

Eligibility:Experience of constructing and maintaining equipment and knowledge of organic characterisation techniques is desirable. The project would suit candidates with a background in chemistry, geology, planetary science or a subject that develops similar skills.Applicants should have completed or be close to completing their PhD (or equivalent) Further information can be obtained from Professor Mark Sephton (m.a.sephton@imperial.ac.uk) and Dr Dominik Weiss (d.weiss@imperial.ac.uk) .
