Salary: 32,267 on Grade F, depending on qualifications and experience

Description: The College wishes to recruit a Research Fellow to support the work of Dr Oana Ghita. This post is available from 01 September 2013 for one year. Key responsibilities of this position are (1) to deliver a feasibility study investigating the development of CNT/PEEK structures using the additive manufacture for lightweight, high performance and multifunctional applications, a DSTL funded project during a 5 months period, and (2) to support the business activities of the Centre for Additive Manufacturing, carry out research activities, support and advise visiting businesses and CALM partner companies to the Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible of the Centre for Additive Layer Manufacturing laboratory/equipment area, Health and Safety and sourcing and order equipment and consumables.
The post will require knowledge of materials science with particular interest in high temperature polymers, CNT use and additive manufacturing. Laser sintering knowledge is essential and high temperature laser sintering is desirable. The chosen candidate will be able to design suitable experiments, have ability to perform practical research, analyse and interpret data and present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally through presentations, or in writing and electronically preparing reports. Several publications are expected to result from this work.

The successful applicant will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the additive manufacturing and materials science to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as a team leader as required.
