The aim of this project is to reduce airframe weight by developing a steered fibre technology with the potential to produce CFRP laminates which exceed current industry requirements for stiffness, buckling capacity and damage tolerance.

Eligibility: The successful applicant will be expected to make a contribution to the computational aspects of the sub-theme of optimisation of steered fibre composite structures. Applicants should have a good understanding of the development of optimisation algorithms and their implementation in C# (or similar) plus interface with legacy Fortran code. Experience of structural/composite mechanics would be advantageous.Applicants should possess a Masters Degree in a Computer Science or Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering discipline, although applicants with prior experience/qualifications in a closely related area may also be considered. Candidates should be self-motivated and possess project management and technical communication skills.
