Description:A postdoctoral fellowship is available for 36 months to create a new collaboration between Physics, Life Sciences and Medicine, which will be based at the Photon Science Institute of the University of Manchester.The project involves the development of new super-resolution fluorescence optical imaging techniques (20 nm resolution) in live cells. The techniques will be used to study intracellular transport during endocytosis that is important for neurological diseases and the morphology of cardiac cell tubules that are important for heart disease. Specifically the STORM/PALM/SOFI techniques will be developed to allow high resolution imaging in three dimensions at high data acquisition rates in live cells.

Eligibility: The prospective candidates should have a strong background in either optical physics or biological physics, and have good programming skills (MatLab or similar).
