Grade 7: £31,331 – £32,267 per annum

Description: We are seeking to appoint a technically-proficient, postdoctoral physical geographer / Earth scientist/engineer to develop hot-water drilling and borehole sensors for installation on the Greenland Ice Sheet. The research is to be undertaken as part of NERC-funded research grant “Subglacial Access and Fast Ice Research Experiment (SAFIRE): Resolving the Basal Control on Ice Flow and Calving in Greenland”. The successful applicant will join the Centre for Glaciology, one of the UK’s leading glaciological research centres, and will be fully integrated within the Centre as well as contributing to the specific requirements of SAFIRE.

Duration:The post is for a fixed term of 27 months, ideally starting in October 2013.
