Job description

  • You prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of Plant Growth and Development, where you will study recently identified kinases that play a role in root hair and pollen tube development of Arabidopsis thaliana
  • You contribute to teaching and research in the department of Biology/faculty of Sciences/research unit Plant Growth and Development.

 

Profile and requirements

  • You hold a master degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or Bioscience Engineering;
  • You can submit outstanding academic results;
  • Also students in the final year of their degree can apply;
  • Foreign candidates are encouraged to apply;
  • Your academic qualities comply with the requirements stipulated in the university’s policy(http://www.ua.ac.be/research);
  • You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative, customer-oriented and cooperative;
  • You have thorough knowledge on molecular biology, microscopy and plant development, experience with Arabidopsis is a plus.

 

We offer

  • A doctoral scholarship for a period of two years, with the possibility of renewal for a further two-year period after positive evaluation;
  • The start date of scholarship will be October 1st 2013, November 1st 2013, December 1st 2013 or January 1st 2014;
  • A monthly grant amount ranging from € 2.124,11 – € 2.265,67;
  • A dynamic and stimulating work environment.
