Job description

  • You prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of Molecular Spectroscopy. The research project will revolve around using a combination of state-of-the-art chiroptical spectroscopic techniques (primarily Raman optical activity) and cutting edge computational chemistry to study and categorize the structural motives in intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs).
  • You contribute to teaching and research at the Department of Chemistry.

Profile and requirements

  • You hold a master degree in Chemistry or Physics;
  • Experience in Raman/ROA spectroscopy and DFT level calculations on biomolecules is strongly preferred;
  • You  have a strong interest in interdisciplinary research;
  • You can submit outstanding academic results;
  • Also students in the final year of their degree can apply;
  • Foreign candidates are encouraged to apply;

  • You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative, customer-oriented and cooperative;

We offer

  • A doctoral scholarship for a period of two years, with the possibility of renewal for a further two-year period after positive evaluation;
  • The start date of scholarship will be October 1st 2013, November 1st 2013, December 1st 2013 or January 1st 2014;
  • A monthly grant amount ranging from € 2.124,11 – € 2.265,67;
  • A dynamic and stimulating work environment.
