The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit science and technology institution based in Cyprus ( The research aims of the Cyprus Institute are represented by three research centers: the Energy Environment Water Research Center (EEWRC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC), and the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CASTORC).CASTORC is one of three Centres with a research focus on the development and application of intense computational methods (e.g. modelling, simulation, visualization, etc.) to advance scientific and technological research in Cyprus and the region. In addition to research and educational activities it provides services through the operation of high performance supercomputing systems and associated user support to many scientific and technical communities. Strong relationships also exist with the Institute’s other research centers.

Position Description
The Cyprus Institute (CyI) invites applications for a Post-doctoral Fellow at its Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CASTORC) with strong scientific, technical and organizational skills to be engaged with the Energy Efficient Graphics Algorithms for Mobile Devices project. The successful candidate will carry out related scientific activities focusing on the development of visual perception techniques to be applied on graphics algorithms for mobile devices.

Candidate Profile

  • PhD in Computer Graphics or related disciplines, with a strong educational and professional background in Computer Graphics and Image processing techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge on the use of visual attention technique in computer graphics related problems.
  • A strong scientific experience in the set-up of psychophysical experiments and data analysis.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability and attitude to work closely in a team environment
  • Excellent knowledge of oral and written English. Knowledge of Greek will be considered as an advantage.

The appointment will be for a fixed term period of 15 months. The salary range will be commensurate to the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
