Salary(inclusive of London allowance): £32,375 – £39,132 per annum
Duties and Responsibilities:
The appointment will be based in the UCL Earth Sciences Geodynamics research group, whose aim is to understand the dynamical processes of Earth’s interior.
Description:
The post focuses on finishing the set up for a digital 3-D particle tracking and particle imaging velocimetry and thermometry system to study slow flows, particularly those relevant to Earth’s interior. The aim of the work will be to improve on existing visualisation systems and post-processing software in the current Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory in the Earth Sciences department.
Funding:
The post is funded by UCL for two years in the first instance.
Key Requirements:
Applicants will have a PhD, or PhD thesis submitted subject to examination, in experimental fluid mechanics. Prior experience in optical visualisation, a knowledge of Python/C++/Matlab and/or other languages and a demonstrated ability in the development/use of experimental equipment for optical measurement is essential.
