POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP: Visual effects of modern lighting on complex scenes

Salary 17,940 ? net per annum.
Applications are invited for a three-year appointment as a post-doctoral research fellow to work with Dr S?rgio Nascimento. The project is funded by the Funda??o para a Ci?ncia e a Tecnologia, Portugal, and will evaluate, computationally and psychophysically, the visual effects of modern lighting. The project will have an emphasis on chromatic effects and will include acquisition and analysis of spectral data from natural and artificial scenes and environments, preparing stimuli and software for psychophysical experiments with display devices and with real objects and light sources.
The Centre of Physics is a dynamic and interdisciplinary research centre, with about one hundred members and is classified as Excellent by the Funda??o para a Ci?ncia e Tecnologia.
Candidates should have a PhD in a suitable area and have experience of research in colour science. Familiarity with C and Matlab, would be an advantage.
The appointment is available from May 2010 or as soon as possible thereafter.
