Netherlands: PhD candidates in Operations Management
The PhD student will work on a project defined on forehand. This project will be in one of the areas mentioned above. The PhD student is expected to do both supervised and unsupervised research, write a PhD thesis and research papers within the specified field. A small part of the studentship will involve teaching in courses offered by the School. The exact number of positions open and the exact fields of research will be known later this Spring and is dependent on grants awarded to the group. Apart from conducting research, the PhD students are required to complete an educational program offered by the BETA Research School as part of the degree requirements. Finally, all PhD students also engage in a small number of teaching activities (less than 10% of total time).

Requirements
For the PhD candidate positions, the applicant should have completed (or be close to completion of) a Master’s degree in industrial engineering, econometrics, logistics, or operations management, with a solid background in quantitative, statistical and/or econometric research methods. The candidate’s file should demonstrate evidence of the ability to interact with industry and/or policy makers, since this is a key part of each project.
