International Summer Research Program 2010

The Nanosystems Initiative Munich (NIM), http://www.nano-initiative-munich.de/, is inviting master students with a strong background in natural sciences or engineering to join us for eight weeks of compelling and demanding nanotechnology research starting on 1 July, 2010.

On each of the sixteen projects in Munich, Großhadern and Augsburg one or two participants are matched with a graduate fellow acting as a research mentor.

As a participant you will collaborate with other international students to

* Work on fascinating and demanding topics in Nano Sciences
* Operate state of the art
scientific equipment
* Sharpen your scientific and technical skills
* Develop your presentation and scientific writing abilities

Research projects are offered in the following fields:

* Analytical Transmission Electron Microscopy
* Experimental Physics – Biological Physics
* Fluorescence Applications in Biology (2)
* Functional Nanosystems
* Inorganic Chemistry (2)
* Nanothermodynamics
* Physical Chemistry – Materials Science (6)
* Theoretical Physics – Molecular Electronics
* Theoretical Solid State Physics

Scientific education is not the only intent of the program, since the students can also experience German culture and life-style. A supporting program will be organized with weekend trips to touristic destinations and other informal activities.
